My wife and I visited Amelia Island, Florida for our honeymoon in late October 2012 and were blown away by the Elizabeth Pointe Lodge where we stayed for several nights. While not an inexpensive place to stay, if it's a special time you're after, you will certainly find it here. The people, the atmosphere, the private beach, the food. In a word: perfect. Very much worth the price of admission. You will never forget this place, and you will return.

The previous reviews were right on. This place is very unique and it may not be for every one. If you are looking for a cozy lodge of bed and breakfast place, then this is it. If you are looking for a full service hotel/spa type of hotel, you will be disappointed. The staff is extremely helpful and very nice. The breakfast has some staple items but they add and change a few items every day. The happy hour is great to meet new people and exchange stories of your day. They also provide complimentary beer, wind and snacks. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a laid back relaxing atmosphere. The one negative as someone posted are the beds. They are a bit stiff and noisy but I can overlook that a the excellent and helpful service of the staff.

Wow. This place was a dream come true. The staff were all incredibly helpful and polite. The breakfasts each morning were unique, plentiful and delicious. If there wasn't something that caught your fancy, you could request something different and it would be made for you (I had specially made scrambled eggs to eliminate the cream and another woman there had a specially made omelet). They have a very nice free happy hour in the evenings from 5:30-7 which includes beer and wine and a couple of snack option. Each night, our bed was given a turn down service and chocolate covered pretzels were left on our bed for us. We also received peanut brittle in our room upon check-in. The room itself (the Tradewinds) was by far the nicest beach room I've ever stayed in. It's very private with it's own deck and a lovely view of the ocean. There's a daybed and two chairs looking out of the large ocean facing windows/deck doors. The bed itself was quite comfortable and the jacuzzi tub was a serious plus. It was a pricey place to stay, but it was very romantic and I would love to go back.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! You just never know until you get there but in case this case, I suggest you keep on driving. The pictures on their website look nothing like this B & B and their booking process is VERY deceitful. Be very careful of this place. I booked an "oceanfront room" and we were put in the back of the hotel. When we tried to explain this to the manager, they gave us one night free in an oceanfront room but the other two nights we would be stuck in the room facing the street. I explained we drove 3 hours to stay on the beach. They would not accommodate. Upon arrival and seeing the rooms, we told them were not going to stay and they told us we would be charged for the full stay even though they already said the first night would be comped. We took our chances and just drove 3-hours home. Sure enough this morning there was over $1,000 deducted by this hotel even though there was a line out the door with people looking for a room because of a football game going on that weekend. They even charged us $99 for a bike rental that we didn't even take. We were going to be there 3 nights at $245 a night plus, they offered to comp the first night so the fair thing would have been to charge us $500 at the most. We contacted the Better Business Bureau and The American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA). To find out what you can do when a hotel stay goes bad, contact AHLA - Contact Shawn McBurney to find out your rights. smcburney@ahla.com . It is illegal to charge us and still rent out the rooms. If this can't get resolved, we will be looking into further action.

In retrospect after staying a long weekend over NY 2015, I realize the bulk of the previous reviews were based on the lodge under the prior owners, a local couple. When I arrived I noted it had joined the Select Registry group, certainly a sign that it should be held to a high standard. But other than the unequaled location on the beach with ample parking, some covered, and very authentic Nantucket architecture and high class furnishings and decor, it was too commercial and formal, This is not a B&B, it's a boutique hotel. * I had no help with my luggage as a solo woman. * When I asked for advice about certain activities I got incorrect and contradictory info. * The buffet featured bagels and lox, the former were no better than bagged from Winn Dixie and the latter was good. I found too many of what i call Southern items on the buffet (and I am a former longterm resident of the South) like grits, gravy, cold and tasteless biscuits; or overcooked bacon, cold scrambled eggs, good oatmeal but no condiments. * We constantly asked for cream and carry out cups for coffee which was mediocre.* * * Breakfast room was beautiful with expansive windows. * The lobby was small with few places to sit comfortably if the rooms were even half occupied and it was too cold to sit outside. * The snacks were also mediocre, though the wine selection was acceptable. * I found only one helpful friendly staff - Omar who covered breakfasts each morning. * * The front desk staff were either non-responsive or aloof. * The GM ( I assume because he never introduced himself) did offer some helpful advise but seemed so harried every time I saw him that he was unapproachable. And of course it is very $$$ for the area. Unfortunately I would not spend that much $$$ but would opt for an in-town place.

It's just a shame that the rating system only goes up to 5 stars because this B and B deserves a perfect 10! The wonderful staff, the fabulous food, outstanding service, and add to that, the incomparable location (especially if you are lucky enough to reserve Tradewinds, the room with a large private deck overlooking the ocean). The beach location will take your breath away. Loved every minute of our stay.

This was the first B&B I haved stayed at in a long time. The perks are the people, so nice and helpful...a personal touch, and of course breakfast! The downside is it is not a resort and doesn't have the amenities of a pool, spa, bar, etc. You really have to decide what you prefer. We stayed in an oceanfront King and found it to be very nice. I did honestly find it pretty pricey for what you got, but again, if the personal touch matters, it may be worth the extra. Very nice people staying there that enjoyed sitting around the fireplace and chatting. You don't find the same friendliness in a resort. I forgot to mention that they also have received a lot of awards for being one of the top B&Bs in the Nation, so you definitely check out their website and see if it is for you!

After having a bad experience with Elizabeth Pointe Lodge and trying to discuss with General Manager Jeremy Watson, he cut me off interrupting me every time I spoke and hung up on me. By far the worst management of ANY business I have experienced. There are so many better places to stay on Amelia Island, I would not recommend anyone doing business with Elizabeth Pointe Lodge.
(1)Russell C.
The most UNCOMFORTABLE bed ive ever had the displeasure of sleeping in. Better off staying at a best western. I hope the breakfast in the morning is worth the $300 i paid for this room. The wife and i decided to stay at a bed and breakfast for our anniversary, thinking it would be nicer than a hotel room. While the location is great, the staff accomodating. The bed is subpar unless you like sleeping on a hardwood floor
(2)Jane D.
New England in FL. Wonderful staff, free cocktail hour, free umbrellas at the beach and free bikes. The breakfast was plentiful but not the best ever.
(5)Tonya C.
Excellent service and beautiful location. Didn't need a pool with the ocean right at the back door; they have plenty of chairs and umbrellas on a small section of beach, which was perfect for jumping in the waves then resting and taking in the view. Our room was beautiful and roomy and bathroom had a nice large tub, which I gladly soaked my tired bones in after a day in the waves and sun! The breakfast buffet was lovely and they had evening wine and munchies. Plenty of chairs on the porch and living areas so you can read or just take in the scenery. A most cozy and restful place!
(5)Jen M.
Very poor customer service, business practice, and manners!! Due to some unforeseen personal circumstances, I had to adjourn my stay 2 days earlier than planned. When I checked out, I asked the man at the front desk if I could be financially relieved from the remaining 2 nights of my stay. He said that he was not the manager, but someone would call me and let me know what they could do. 1 week later, still no one had called me, and I check my AMEX bill to see that I have been charged for the additional 2 nights. So, I call them. The woman tells me that they were not able to resell my room, and that is why I was charged the full amount. I asked her why wasn't I called, as promised, before I was charged? She goes on to tell me that they've been too busy to call me. So not busy enough to resell my room, but too busy to call me, even still 1 week later? They certainly were not too busy to charge the remaining amount to my AMEX, because that happened the day after I left. She was rude on the phone and talked over me when I tried to talk. Then she tells me that I have an attitude, and she hangs up on me!! I will be back to Amelia Island soon, but never again to the Elizabeth Pointe Lodge.
(1)Mike B.
The Elizabeth Pointe Lodge is a nice hotel, without question. The staff is generally very accommodating, the food was good. But -- there were several incredibly off-putting things I experienced there. First of all, $400/night for a hotel should yield some stellar accommodations. Their pictures would make it seem this way. But be clear: their pictures on their site do not necessary line up with the name of the room that you are booking, so it's not easy to align the exact room they mention in the booking with the pictures they show. Our room indicated that it was in the Ocean House (which came at a premium) and had outdoor seating with teak chairs and tropical plants with a jacuzzi inside (according to the site). Perhaps I'm picky, but unlike all the other photos of chairs on their website, ours were just two chairs next to the door of our room that faced the parking lot with absolutely zero view of the ocean or beach and zero privacy - just cars. Our jacuzzi was just a bath tub. And the only windows in the room were on the ground level of the house facing the road, meaning they were generally left closed for privacy. I felt mislead by their booking process, as some others here have claimed, and I would never in a million years have payed $400/night for that room if I had known what it was. Second, I went into the front desk to discuss these issues and that I felt the room was significantly misrepresented on their website. I wanted to know if there was a way to get either a price reduction or to cancel my remaining nights at the hotel. The first lady I spoke to said there was nothing that they could do due to their cancellation policy. For those that book here, read it carefully: zero refund within 10 days of your stay there. I have big problems with that and you should be very careful about that. Lastly, and this is fully the reason for my one-star review: I asked to speak with a manager to see if anything at all could be done. Jeremy was the manager there at the moment and came out to greet me with a smile. I re-expressed my issues with the room and asked if there was anything he could do, as we would like to cancel and pay for the first night or at least get some kind of discount if we could not cancel. This part is the real jab; I've been told "no" by people in service industries plenty of times and I can live with that. Generally it takes the form of "I'd love to be able to help you, but there's nothing I can do". Jeremy's response to my asking "Is there anything you can do?" was bluntly, "There is nothing I am *willing* to do". I blinked and asked to make sure I heard him right, that he was saying that he was capable of doing many things but was not willing to do any of them. He confirmed my understanding. From a customer service standpoint, that feels like: "Hey buddy. Screw you. I've got your money, now get lost". I've never been so full of rage in a customer service interaction in my life -- and that's saying a lot, as I have Comcast. If anyone from the Elizabeth Pointe reads this: you have a lovely hotel that is exceptionally over-priced and perhaps deceitfully presented on your website. Your cancellation policy is ridiculous. And your manager Jeremy was absolutely insulting and the only reason I felt compelled to write a review on Yelp. Jeremy: part of customer service is knowing when the customer no longer wishes to receive the service. We wanted out and were willing to pay for our first night to do so. My advise to everyone else: there are dozens of hotel on this island and 90% of them cost about half the price of this place and most looked pretty nice on drive by. Choose wisely.

Extraordinary. Exquisite. Impressive. The adjectives just role off your tongue after you experience a stay at this luxury retreat sitting right on the ocean in Amelia island. The exterior is vintage-look Nantucket as advertised, but the amenities and the service exude old South charm and quiet elegance. Nice folks welcome you; nice folks greet you in the hallways, the exterior grounds, and the parking areas; and nice folks even greet you with a smile at the beach - we noticed throughout our stay that everyone we encountered working here seemed to truly love their job. Having been all over the U.S. and around the world, I cannot imagine our having had a better hotel experience. Although not cheap (a room cost $300+/night), we felt very comfortable throughout our stay - we loved every minute and have already made reservations to return later this year. I heartily recommend this lovely property for anyone who appreciates a professional, quietly-efficient stay in an elegantly-appointed hotel.

the elizabeth pointe lodge will always hold a very special place in my heart and i hope to visit again and again for the rest of my life. i got engaged there just a couple weeks ago, right at dusk on the beach that we had to ourselves, it was the most picturesque and perfect proposal i could have ever hoped for! as soon as i saw their website i knew i had to stay there, a beachfront bed and breakfast has always been a dream of mine. we chose a ocean front king suite and it was just perfect. the bed was huge and comfortable. the bathroom was amazing (they even have a small dark color wash cloth labeled "for makeup"). the front desk is always open and ready to help you in any way, and what a friendly staff. they have breakfast daily, which has a really great selection of eggs, oatmeal, french toast, cereals, breads, juices, etc. fabulous!!! they have daily happy hour, for one hour in the lounge, they have wine and an assortment of snacks (cheese, wings, veggies, etc.) we rented bicycles for the afternoon and rode into downtown which was so nice and a nice change from lounging on the beach. except i think they shouldnt charge $5 for a bike rental when the room rates are almost $300/night - its really the only slight negative i can say. overall i loved my stay and i look forward to returning again and again with my future husband and someday with our children.

What a great experience! We stayed here on Valentines Day for just one night, but we will be back for many more. Unlike many 'beachfront' B&B's, this one is actually smack dab on the beach. We got an ocean front room and had a huge view of the ocean. The room was spacious and bed was super comfy. We just laid there for about an hour looking out the window at the waves crashing. When we arrived there was a small bag of 5 chocolates on the bed. Not cheap, foil wrapped chocolates, but high quality stuff. Nice touch. When you enter the Inn there is a huge living room with a view of the ocean and a nice little library. Lots of chairs and couches to sit on and chat. But the highlight of the inn is the huge wrap around porch. Many chairs for you to sit in while enjoying a drink and listen to the sea, watch the sun rise, etc. They also have chairs and large umbrellas on the beachfront too. The staff was super. All of them, from the owners to the house keepers, everyone asked how we were enjoying ourselves. The best was during the breakfast the next morning when the owner stopped by every table and genuinely thanks everyone for staying there. I love service like that. They have a happy hour from 6-7 and serve wine, but the beer they advertised was nowhere to be found. hmmm, not too big of a deal, because the cheese, crackers, and meatballs were delicious. The breakfast buffet in the morning is ok. certainly plenty of food, but what was out wasn't my favorite (but to be fair, I was told several times that if I didn't see something I liked that I could ask the staff and they would try their best to make it for me.) The one this I would criticize is the average quality of coffee. For someplace so expensive, they really should invest in some good quality coffee. When we left, they took the time to get our feedback and even gave us a book of other quality B&B's. Yes, this place is expensive, but for what you get it is well worth it. I give it my highest rating!

Horrible Experience. Food on the bathroom floor and the Management just couldn't be bothered by it. I'm never going back!
(1)Bill D.
Wonderful place! Has the feel of an old, sea captains lodge. It is right on the beach. The bed was the most comfortable ever. The lobby is so, so nice that guests love to hang out and read, as if a fine old living room or large home library. Truly one of the best places!
(5)Crystal P.
This our second stay. Accommodations are always lovely, staff are friendly and helpful. Food is delicious :) we got special treat of champagne for our anniversary :) love this place and highly recommend!!
(5)Clara C.
Went for brunch on Mothers Day and we were expecting something special from this highly regarded local B&B. Quite to the contrary, there were less selections than a free breakfast at any local hotel. What they did have was not hot. The upside here is location, location, location.
